Using the search engine options or click-map on the front page simply select a holiday home of your choice, send us an inquiry and after an availability check, a quotation (rates vary according to seasonality and duration of stay) and confirmation from the owner, we'll ask you to complete our written rental contract. This will confirm your holiday arrangements. We have a team of 30 trained proffessional agents who ensure our homes meet the standards required and who will assist you during every step of your stay with us. You as a tenant, do not pay us comission on bookings.
How does a Bed and Breakfast booking operate
This is a little different, choose a suitable establishment using our search engine. After selection you are able to choose to send and e-mail or to go directly to the bed and breakfasts own site. All bookings and communication with the establishment will be on a direct basis and not be conducted by staysa. We do not charge a comission on bookings, you deal direct.
We will try and answer some often asked questions below, if yoy do have any further inquiries please do not hesitate to send us your questions
What will staysa.co.za do on home bookings?
Behind the scenes, the home will be cleaned, checked and prepared for your stay to our strict standards. You will be met on arrival, presented with a small welcoming gift and our resident representative will show you around the house ensuring everything is in place. You'll be required to sign an inventory check, by this stage you will have paid the balance of the rental together with a breakage deposit of the greater of R1000 or one days rental. This will be returned to you after a departure sign off by the agent.
Our agent will assist you with any local information you might need and do everything within reason to ensure your stay is enjoyable.
Do I pay commissions?
We do not accept rentals of less than R10 000.00. We do not believe this to be in the interest of the homeowners and these are generally uneconomical and unable to offer any party benefit. A administration fee of R700 + VAT is applicable should we accept rentals less than R10000.00. Where the rental is higher than R10 000, an admin fee of R350 + VAT will be charged. This admin fee is payable by the tenant as a once off payment and the tenant also pays for a full valet and laundry of R260 / R350 (varies by region) which is conducted by the agent immediately on departure to ensure all laundry and other cleaning is completed. A fully refundable breakage deposit equal to the higher of either one days rent or R1000 is also due, all these items are clearly noted in the tenant agreement which is signed by both parties.
Why is there a range of rentals quoted?
The maximum quoted is usually for the peak Christmas/New Year season and the minimum applies to an off-season booking. The prices for the other school holidays (excl. Dec/Jan) are usually at around 60% of the maximum - these are bargains not to be missed! A lot of our resort areas are far more enjoyable during the less popular holidays and even off-season if school going children are not an issue for you.
Are rentals negotiable?
We have a set discount and pricing structure which includes off-season discounts and discounting for visits in excess of 14 days to 20 days and 21 days or more. You will be informed of these when making an inquiry as they might vary from house to house.
The prices seem a little high?
When one compares pricing to commercial establishments, with particular consideration to numbers of persons you will find the home rental option is a lot less expensive - as an example, we can rent you a 6 bed home on the Port Alfred Marina with a private jetty for only R100 per person per night off season and approximately R200 per night in peak season/Christmas? Now thats good value!
Why then does it seem cheap?
In most cases, the homes are privately owned and standing empty, for obvious reasons, owners are only too glad to get an income from their assetts when they are not being used.
What if anything has gone wrong or what bad experiences have occurred?
The worst that can happen is the tenants expectation of the house and reality end up being dissapointing. This can be avoided by ensuring tenants have a good look at the home, ask questions but most of all...please tell us about yourself, your needs and a lot more, this will help us to ensure we find the right place for you. As an example, we had a client who was allergic to cats but didn't tell us! We had unfortunately selected a house that had cats normally living in it. In general our grading system covers most issues...if you want a really stunning house and are prepared to pay...go for a six star...as with most things in life, one does get what one pays for.
Why are the rental documents so complicated and long?
Both the tenants and owners have legal obligations to each other. We pride oursleves on the fact that we protect both parties at all times to ensure honesty and integity at all times. The only method of doing this is through a legally correct system, there can be no compromise on quality and accuracy - the system protects you!
If you have any questions, we'll be glad to assist, simply send us an e-mail from our home page.
